And then it spread like wildfire from there. It spread so fast that even a few celebrities got duped. Kim Kardashian was tweeting, “Did I juist hear Cher has passed away? Is this real? OMG” and “I hope this is a twitter joke and not true. I don’t see it on the news anywhere. I’m praying its not true…”

I’m not sure why people think this sort of stuff is funny. It’s sad that someone gets a bizarre power trip watching a lie spread. I always wonder who these people are that they have so much free freakin’ time on their hands that they sit around and decide to do something so stupid.

6. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Seemed an odd fit at the start, but their split came totally out of left field. Now she's taking nitrous hits. Nitrous.

5. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. Apparently not the marrying type.

4. Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz. Remember them? We forgot too.

Katy Perry is gracing the cover of this month's Nylon magazine, and she not only spills the deets on her new tunes and Russell Brand, but she gives her thoughts on her partners in pop music - including GaGaloo, Ke$ha, Rihanna and Taylor Swift!!

On differentiating herself from the other pop princesses:
"You've got GaGa, who's like, from outer space; you've got Ke$ha, who's the beer-drinking, house-party girl; and then you've got Rihanna, who's transforming the urban world into her own outer space. But I feel like you're missing an Alanis Morissette, in 2010. I love how she was a voice for a lot of people who couldn't explain their feelings. But it's not like I'm not gonna compete. I love a good dose of healthy competition. It's not going to be the same that they're doing…"

On how she's really just Taylor Swift:
"Sometimes I really feel like I'm more of a Taylor Swift. She tells stories, and I think that's why she resonates with a lot of people. She hits the hidden chord in them [where they say], 'Oh my God, I've been through that too,' or 'You said it in a way I could never explain.'"

On how she had to go through the five stages of GaGa to reach OBSESSION:
"When I heard The Fame Monster, I was like, 'What the fuck is she talking about - teeth and he ate my heart and monster and dance in the dark and shit?' I thought she was such a shock jock. Then I saw her on the American Music Awards, and I was like, 'You're an animal of another kind, and we need you!' She's amazing. She's an entertainer, a visual arts. And her lyrics do mean things when you actually break them down."

Swift has spoken about how she and Gomez crashed a college football game one weekend, while trying to create a normal co-ed experience for themselves, despite being rich, famous and beautiful stand-out-in-a-crowd pop stars.

You know, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine Swift, Gomez and Stone in their own sitcom. They’re all stunning and as funny as they are beautiful. Each of them is a member of one of three major hair color groups — blonde, brunette and red — so they have all the makings of a prime time hit. That’s right our favorite governor from Celebrity Apprentice is headed to the slammer! Rod, who had been charged with attempting to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated when President Obama was elected in 2008, was in complete shock today when a jury convicted him of 18 of the 20 counts that he had been previously charged with.

Rod Blagojevich was acquitted of soliciting bribes, but the jury was deadlocked on two charges of attempted extortion. After the trial, the former Celebrity Apprentice star said he was “frankly disappointed” and his wife was head whispering “Let’s just go home”. His previous trial ended in a hung jury as Rod maintained his story of innocence.

Dozens of people lined the courthouse awaiting the verdict and boo’s filled the air but no one was more “stunned” than Rod and his wife. No sentencing date has been issued yet, but the word is that Rod could get 7-10 years. I can’t help but wonder what Donald Trump would say right now!

This is exactly what happened Thursday, when Ron Artest filed paperwork in Los Angeles to have his name legally changed to Metta World Peace. According to the Los Angeles Times, the name “Metta” is a Buddhist word meaning “a strong wish for the welfare and happiness of others.”

Artest isnt the first celebrity to change an already well-branded name. Here are the top five notable celebrity name changes:

#5 – Martin Louis the King Jr.

In January 2009, Kanye West asked his fans to begin calling him by the name “Martin Louis the King Jr.” during a video message he posted on line. According to MTV UK, this name change was never official but worked as a great publicity stunt to bring attention to West’s new line of shoes.

#4 — Chad Ochocinco

In 2008, Chad Johnson gave up his surname in order to have the number 85 placed on his back in Spanish. In 2009, he indicated that he was planning to take things one step further by changing his name again to “Hachi Go,” which means the same in Japanese. This change never materialized and, according to a recent interview with ESPN, Chad is thinking of giving the whole thing up and returning to his true name.

#3 — Swag

In May, P. Diddy came down with the flu and did what any normal person would never think of doing. He changed his name for a week to “Swag.” This is nothing new for the artist who has been known as P. Diddy, Diddy, Puff, Puff Daddy, King Combs and Puffy over the years.

#2 — World B. Free

Lloyd Bernard Free was known for his airtime on the basketball court. Between 1975 and 1988, his 44 inch vertical and 360-degree dunks earned him the nickname “World.” Apparently he liked the name so much
that he permanently changed his name in 1981.

#1 — The Artist Formerly known as Prince

For seven years between 1993 and 2000, Prince changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol due to a contract dispute with Warner Bros. Records. This name change wins top awards for the strangest of all due to the fact that his new name was not even a name.

1. “A new lawsuit obtained by TMZ alleges “An A-list celebrity of ’substantial fame internationally’ knowingly exposed a sex partner to the herpes virus. But here’s the rub—the suit doesn’t name the celeb.
According to the suit, the plaintiff—who also is not named—met the celebrity in Las Vegas April 1. The suit claims the celeb—a male who is worth in excess of $100 million—’entered into a nefarious plot designed to lure Plaintiff into his luxurious hotel room to serve his prurient desires.’ The suit claims the celeb told the plaintiff he had ‘no venereal diseases.’ At that point, they watched porn and engaged in ‘mutual oral copulation, mutual self-gratification, rubbing and massaging each other, play-wrestling, licking and (unprotected) intercourse.’ And, it was all videotaped!
