Erykah Badu Defends JFK-Inspired Video
Erykah Badu show a video for her single Window Seat and it's definitely sparked some controversy. The singer takes off her clothes along Dallas's Dealey Plaza and feigns being shot in the head. She falls to the ground exactly where JFK was assassinated.
She took to her Twitter to set the record straight.
Erykah said:
"I would never disrespect JFK. his revolutionary thinking is my inspiration. my performance art has been grossly misinterpreted by many."
Yet she gave a pretty vivid play-by-play on the shoot, which makes it sound like she was pushing the limit.
She Tweeted:
"There were children there. i prayed they wouldnt b traumatized."
"yelling, THIS IS A PUBLIC PLACE : YOU OUGHTA BE ASHAMED : PUT YOUR CLOTHES ON : DAMN GIRL! etc…"
Do U think she took it too far?!

Re: rachelshavon – we would expect nothing less from someone like you.
She’s a fucking racists whore with too much junk in her trunk. She’s a fucking asshole for stripping down in front of little kids. Have some respect you fucking whore.
Re: pgal – Well said.
I love the video now. So many people are bringing “race” into well to the white people who have something to say about her being a whore and such what about Britney and Madonna who kissed on stage what about lady gaga and her dumb ass. yall are just made NONE OF YOU HAD THE BALLS TO DO THIS. White people can always knock us but if u really pay attention to the media and pop culture yall try to be us so bad. Sorry you can’t be.
IF THIS WAS A WHITE ARTIST DOING THE SAME THING WITH MARTIN LUTHER KING JR EVERYONE WOULD BE SHOCKED AND APPALLED. BUT NO.. SINCE SHES BLACK AND JFK WAS WHITE ITS “ART”.
.
ART?
BULLSHIT!
.
DOUBLESTANDARD
I have Obama toilet paper in the can….now that’s deep!
Re: pgal – The message behind the video is that sometimes individualists are assassinated by groupthink when they differ from the norm. Your thoughts, actions, are even physical self maybe shot down because you disagree with them. Groupthink also involves the mob mentality and peer pressure, if everyone is doing something you just might want to join in to be apart of the crowd.
P.S. I don’t have to result to name calling, how mature of you.
But this is the same thing people say about Lady GaGa, what is the difference? GaGa is more culturally relevant than Erykah Badu? She’s more popular, therefore it’s more acceptable?
Re: pgal – umm excuse me but are you implying race played a part in her actions?
Call me stupid but how does walking around naked in public (where we can all see there are kids there) considered “art”. Anyone feel free to reply =)
