I’ve been receiving some emails asking about the technology used to build bossbitching.com. The website is built with Ruby on Rails (RoR) using a My SQL database. The website is hosted at TextDrive.

The reasons for which RoR was chosen are as follows:

1. I wanted to get something up quick. RoR lends itself to rapid web development.
2. Since this is a custom build there was no need for a CMS app.
3. I am a 37 Signals disciple and believe in the concept of frameworks to go along with OOP

It is possible in the future that bossbitching.com is moved to a CMS app and at that time it will likely be built on PHP. I have looked for RoR CMS apps and even though they seem stable since RoR is its infancy none of the RoR CMS apps are as stable as their PHP alternatives.
